LED Facial FAQ
LED light therapy is non-invasive, so no recovery time is required and you will be able to continue with your regular activities immediately after your treatment.
Although you may see results after your first few treatments, LED light therapy generally requires 10 -12 sessions to see significant long term results. One or two follow up treatments per month will help to maintain these results.
For acne treatment, you may see results within 1 – 2 weeks of your first few treatments. You will notice a reduction in breakouts, redness and irritation caused by acne with continued treatments. Between 3 – 5 treatments is where you may start to see more dramatic results.
With a course of treatments, results can last up to 3 – 6 months, with acne treatment on the lower end of the scale and anti aging benefits lasting a bit longer. Maintenance treatments paired with a good home skin care routine will ensure your results are lasting.
We recommend 2 treatments per week for the first 3 weeks. After this, we may recommend an additional 6 weekly treatments, with the option to perform monthly follow up treatments.
It is considered extremely safe for all skin tones and types.
No, LED light therapy is gentle, non-invasive and does not hurt at all. In fact, there is very little to no sensation felt during the treatment. It is quite bright so protective eye goggles are worn during treatment.
Two Weeks Before Treatment
- Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen and try to avoid excessive sun exposure.
- Do not undergo abrasive skin treatments, aesthetic fillers, injectables or laser treatments.
Two Days Before Treatment
- Avoid excessive alcohol or coffee consumption as this can dehydrate the skin.
- Avoid abrasive scrubs, exfoliants, facial masks, self-tanners, bleaching or skin-lightening agents. This includes prescription skincare products, such as adapalene, benzoyl peroxide, Retin-A or Tazorac.
- Avoid any active skin care, such as Vitamin A, Vitamin C, AHA’s and BHA
- Avoid waxing, electrolysis or any depilatory hair removal products or methods.
On The Day
- Drink lots of water as this will hydrate your skin.
- Remove make-up prior to facial treatments if possible.
- Don’t apply creams or oils to your skin before the treatment.
- Metal jewelry should be removed prior to the treatment.
Washing the face – Allow up to 6 hours before washing with water in order to benefit most from the applied skincare products.
Moisturise and hydrate – Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration which can make your skin feel excessively tight. This will also help speed up the elimination of toxins. Try to limit your consumption of caffeine and alcohol as these have a dehydrating effect on your skin.
Apply SPF50 sunscreen – Your skin will be more exposed and susceptible to UV damage immediately post treatment. Refrain from prolonged direct sun exposure for the following weeks after a treatment if you can.
Avoid strenuous workouts, dry saunas & steam rooms – Increased blood circulation to the face can intensify warming, tingling, itching or redness immediately after treatment. Try to avoid these activities on the day of your microdermabrasion treatment.
Avoid other skin treatments – Having other facial treatments will limit the time of beneficial ingredients on your skin and minimize the benefits of this treatment. It’s good to wait a day before performing other skin care treatments.
Avoid makeup – It’s best to let your skin breath after your treatment, so try to avoid makeup that covers the skin for 24 hours if possible. Mineral based makeups can be used if you wish to cover facial redness that may occur.
