Treatment Preparation & Aftercare Advice
• You will not be able to apply make up for 24 hours after your treatment. It is strongly recommended to use new products to avoid bacterial contamination.
• Ideally, you should not visit the gym, sauna, jacuzzi or swim for 24 hours after the procedure.
• Any tweezing, waxing, facial hair tinting or eyelash tinting/curling should be done 48 hours prior to treatment and one week post procedure.
• Eyeliner: Eyelash extensions and contact lenses should be removed prior to arriving at the clinic.
• Lips: If you are prone to cold sores it is highly likely you will have an outbreak. Take necessary precautions to avoid.
• Please eat before you visit the clinic. This will help with your blood sugar levels.
• You will be required to fill in Consent and Treatment forms and will have your photograph taken before and after the procedure. These will be stored securely by your technician.
• You may notice whiteness or blanching around the area; this is quite normal and will subside in a few hours. Do not allow water to go directly onto the treated area. If it dies, please blot dry with clean gauze – DO NOT WIPE.
• The area may still be numb and be slightly swollen. The numbing will subside within a couple of hours. The swelling should subside within two days.
• In some cases there may be bruising. This should last no longer than one week. If the area weeps, you can gently blot the area with tissue to remove the moisture. Take care not to rub.
• Eyebrows and eyeliner should dry heal.
• If you are given some aftercare ointment for lip procedures, use sparingly. Apply 1-3 times a day with clean hands and a clean cotton bud. If your lips feel dry, apply more frequently but do not over use. Over use may affect pigment retention.
• DO NOT PICK OR PULL AT THE AREA – it may cause infections or pigment loss.
• HEAL: as soon as your procedure is finished, your body will start to heal. The skin will close and you may see a thin scab which protects the area whilst healing.
• PEEL: after a few days the scab will fall away and you will see pigment.
• FADE: you will see a lighter hue of implanted colour. This colour will change over 4-6 weeks. In some cases, healed lip colour will not be seen for up to 3 months. In some cases eyeliner can disappear entirely during this phase.
• Your second visit can be booked after 4 weeks and before 3 months. If you leave it after 3 months it is deemed a re-touch and you may be charged accordingly.
• Strong chemical or glycolic/acid peels of any kind may cause pigment to lighten.
• Keep your procedure looking its best. Book a colour boost procedure 12-18 months following the second visit.
The Red Cross have suggested that you do NOT give blood for 6 months.
MRI Scans
This procedure shows up as an artefact on the scan. Some clients may experience a tingling sensation. Please notify the radiologist.
Injectables
Dermal fillers can alter the shape of the eyebrows or the lips.
Laser
Laser hair removal, particularly around the lip area (cleft patients) can cause colour change – it is important to advice laser technicians that you have had a micropigmentation procedure as this cannot be rectified with another micropigmentation procedure.
Colour Refreshing
To keep your micropigmentation looking its best it is recommended that you have a colour boost procedure every 12-18 months.
If you have any queries or feel your procedure is not healing as explained please call us on 01264 810004 immediately.
